Immaculee Ilibegiza: Left to Tell
On April 22&23, the author of Left to Tell will be speaking at Western Michigan University. ALD is going to plan a serivce project to raise monsy for an organization in Africa that Immaculee supports.
Immaculee Ilibegiza's life was transformed when the Rwandan genocide occured in 1994. For 91 days she was huddled in a cramped bathroom at the pastor's house with seven other women. She entered the bathroom at 115 lbs and left weighing only 65 lbs and finding that her family was murdered in the genocide. She credits her survivial to prayer and to a set of rosary beads that were given to her by a devout Catholic father before she was forced into hiding.

Oakwood Community Center
Western Michigan University ALD Chapter is primarily a service orientated group. We serve the community along side the Oakwood Community Center with Fall into the Streets and Spring into the Streets every year. We have been partners with the Oakwood Community Center since 2006. We are planning on helping them out with a Christmas Party December 6, 2009 and in the spring with an Easter Party. So come help rake leaves for the elderly in the neighborhood of the Oakwood Community Center!
